DREAM University in session at the Department of Education
DREAM students ask Secretary Duncan to champion the DREAM Act - an education imperative for our nation
Washington, DC – 65 students representing the 65,000 undocumented students that graduate each year from our nation’s high schools will hold a rally in front of the Department of Education on Thursday, July 22nd at noon (eastern).
While Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and Marian Robinson, mother of First Lady Michelle Obama, read to local school children at the Department’s “Let’s Read. Let’s Move.” summer enrichment program, immigrant youth will march outside the building and ask Secretary Duncan to champion access to higher education for all US-raised students.
Students will wear DREAM University uniforms and hold signs stating their age when they entered the US highlighting their connection to the children in the summer enrichment program.
What: DREAM Act rally
When: Thursday, July 22nd at 12:00 ET
Where: U.S. Department of Education – 400 Maryland Ave. S.W. Washington D.C.
Who: 65 DREAM Act eligible students and their supporters
The DREAM Act is a piece of legislation supported by 70 percent of likely voters and which has bipartisan support in Congress and would provide a path to permanent residency for thousands of young people who were raised in the United States, worked hard in school, and who yearn to pursue higher education or to serve in the military. These young people are Americans in all but paperwork and are poised to contribute to the only nation they consider home.
The legislation is supported by dozens of universities, major businesses, educational groups, military recruiters and religious leaders. The DREAM Act would be an important down payment on the commitment that the President and leaders in Congress have made to pass immigration reform this year.

The Dream legislation sounds pretty solid. If the students choose to work hard, pursue a college degree and contribute to the nation, they deserve to become citizens. Especially if they have lived here since an early age.

65 students combined to form the voice of 65,000 undocumented students means their goal, their motto & their struggle for their right were same. They should work hard to achieve their targets.
